What We Learned at InterSystems READY 2025: Technology, Talent, and Connection

Henry Elliott & Company recently returned from InterSystems READY 2025, the annual global summit that brings together the InterSystems community to share updates, insights, and ideas. It’s a chance to hear directly from the people behind the technology—and from the organizations using it in the real world.

Held in Orlando, Fla., this year’s event delivered plenty to take in, from deep-dive technical sessions to spontaneous hallway conversations to some pretty unforgettable live music. As always, we were there to learn, connect, and bring back knowledge that helps us better support our clients and consultants.

A Closer Look at the Future of InterSystems IRIS

The InterSystems product roadmap continues to focus on flexibility, performance, and interoperability—key areas of interest for clients modernizing legacy environments or exploring cloud-native architecture. One session in particular stood out to our team: an in-depth look at the IRIS Kubernetes Operator (IKO), presented by Luka Ravazzolo, Steve Lubars, and Joost Platenburg.

“For me, the annual InterSystems conference is always about learning, networking, and seeing old friends & colleagues,” said one of our consultants. “From a learning perspective, I found the IRIS Kubernetes Operator (IKO) session to be very informative. As a result of what I learned, my ProxMox home lab now has a MicroK8s cluster that is going to have IRIS deployed soon.”

The value of that session inspired real hands-on experimentation right away. That’s exactly the kind of practical insight we aim to bring back from events like this.

More than Tech: Real Conversations, Real Use Cases

Outside the formal sessions, READY 2025 was full of opportunities to connect with fellow developers, architects, and technical leads. These conversations are often just as valuable as the scheduled presentations—and they offer a clear view of how teams across industries are working with InterSystems technology day to day.

“When I attend the InterSystems Global Summit, it offers a powerful opportunity to accelerate my understanding of the latest data and integration technologies,” said another Henry Elliott consultant. “Gaining firsthand insights from InterSystems experts on key enhancements—like innovations in IRIS, cloud-native deployment strategies, and real-time interoperability—is incredibly helpful.”

The event also served as a hub for new relationships and potential collaborations. “We were fortunate enough to meet folks that have really exciting startup projects in the works,” one team member added. “I’m looking forward to seeing how we can help them achieve their goals.”

Building the Right Teams Around New Technology

InterSystems continues to evolve its tools to meet changing business needs. That includes not just the technology itself, but the skills required to work with it effectively. As organizations explore containerization, cloud migration, and increasingly complex integrations, they’re asking new questions and looking for talent who can offer real-world solutions.

Henry Elliott supports InterSystems projects by helping clients find people with that kind of experience. From HealthShare developers to IRIS architects, our work starts by understanding what these technologies make possible—so we can help our clients put the right teams in place.

READY 2025 helped sharpen that perspective. Whether it was through technical walkthroughs, casual discussions, or hearing about upcoming use cases, we left with a clearer understanding of what our clients are prioritizing next.

A Community that Knows How to Connect

Of course, it wasn’t all sessions and strategies. The Summit also gave us time to unwind and reconnect. InterSystems hosted a social evening at Universal CityWalk, complete with a live performance by their in-house band. Our team also gathered for a memorable dinner at Disney Springs, where the music and atmosphere were just as good as the food.

These kinds of shared experiences reinforce what makes the InterSystems community unique. Building relationships enables us to also build better systems. “Last but not least,” as one consultant put it, “I had a chance to get caught up with my long-time friends.”

Why It Matters for Our Clients

READY 2025 reminded us that staying current with InterSystems tools is only one part of the equation. What really counts is how those tools are being applied—and who’s doing the work.

By showing up, participating in technical sessions, and connecting with peers and innovators across industries, we’re better equipped to help our clients solve their most pressing challenges. Whether you’re planning a HealthShare deployment, exploring IRIS, or simply looking for someone who understands how to keep systems performing at scale, we’re ready to help.

We’re proud to be part of this community—and even more proud to support the people building what’s next. Contact us to start a conversation about your needs.
